Gov. Adeleke praises Armed Forces, launches Armed Forces Day with N5 million
Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, praised the Nigerian Armed Forces Wednesday for their contributions to the country's stability and peace. He asked Nigerians to respect the military's efforts to stabilize the country, noting that fallen Nigerian heroes had made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the peace that the nation now enjoys.
According to Adeleke, the bravery, patriotism, and sacrifice of the security and military forces are what keep the country stable.
The governor said that service members of the armed forces in particular were confronting and containing overt and covert threats to the territorial integrity of the country in many volatile sectors of the society at the launch of the emblem for the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.
He said: “That we must live, many offered their precious lives. We must therefore continue to acknowledge the contributions of the armed forces to the survival of the nation.
“As we gathered here today, I reassure the military service of the commitment of the government to expand the current level of partnership. Our administration has a security sector reform, which places welfare of service personnel at the centre stage.
“Today, I recommit to the well-being of our service personnel. Our veterans and their families will continue to receive our support in recognition of their service to the fatherland.
“It is on this note that I launch the appeal fund for the 2023 Emblem for the Armed Forces Remembrance Day with a N5 million.â€
