Gov Peter Mbah assumes office, signs three executive orders

Dr. Peter Mbah, the new governor of Enugu State, signed three executive orders just one hour after his inauguration, fulfilling his first official duty.

Mr. Mbah said the instructions were intended to advance the state as he went directly from the inauguration site at Okpara Square in Enugu to his office on Monday to sign them.

He asserts that executive order 001 of 2023 is a citizen charter order that complies with the commitment he made to the Enugu people.

He claimed that the directive will enable him to keep his campaign commitments to the people of Enugu.

He asserted that this directive required us to handle the people's money in their best interests and to hold him and the other members of his team accountable for the money.

“The citizen’s charter mandates us to provide detailed information on our public financial management system, report our revenue to you in detail and ensure we adequately capture our expenditure,” he said.

The Order 002 of 2023, he said, was for the removal of street barriers before our first 100 days in office.

“The order is the removal of illegal structures that block streets and other areas in the state. We urge the owners to remove them before our 100 days in office so that Enugu people will see what we are doing to guarantee their safety and security.

“The Order 003 of 2023 is our mission to make Enugu the best destination for investment by creating an environment for businesses to thrive and making policies that are business-friendly,” Mr Mbah said.

On Monday, Mr. Mbah and his deputy, Mr. Ifeanyi Ossai, were sworn in at Okpara Square amid a ceremony.
