Gov Sanwo-Olu swears in 38 commissioners, special advisers
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has sworn in 38 commissioners and special advisers, giving them the responsibility of seeing that THEMES' developmental programme is carried out.
The governor expressed hope for a better society by adding, "I see a bigger Lagos rising." He also charged the cabinet members to reflect excellence in the performance of their tasks.
After the 38 newly appointed commissioners and special advisers were sworn in and administered the oath at the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Sanwo-Olu delivered the charge.
The candidates that Sanwo-Olu sent for confirmation were already approved by the state House of Assembly.
The Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Kazeem Alogba, the Secretary to the State Government, Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, and the Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, were all in attendance.
Dele Alake, the former Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy and Minister for Solid Minerals, was also present.
Speaking to the crowd, Sanwo-Olu emphasised the need for his administration to fulfil its promises of a more prosperous Lagos.
The governor added that the new cabinet members must view their appointment as a special privilege and a call to service as they get ready for the challenges that lie ahead.
Sanwo-Olu said: “This event is historic. The members of the state Executive Council have been painstakingly chosen. They are emblem of what Lagos is all about.â€
He thanked the Assembly for its assistance and urged greater cooperation, arguing that in the end, citizens will reap the greatest rewards.
