Gunmen abduct Kogi LG chairman
Zacchaeus Michael, the acting chairman of Kogi State's Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, has been abducted by armed individuals. William Aya, the public relations officer for the state police, verified this on Saturday.
According to Aya, who spoke with our correspondent, the caretaker chairman was abducted on Friday night in the Kabba region of the state along Kabba-Okene Road.
“Yes, I got the information. The state Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha, has already deployed officers for a search-and-rescue mission. We are on top of the situation,” he said.
Due to the sensitivity of the situation, sources who spoke on condition of anonymity claimed that Michael and a few of his assistants were taken captive.
One of the sources said, “Reports indicate that CTC Kabba/Bunu Chairman, Zacchaeus Dare Michael, and some of his aides have been kidnapped by gunmen on the Kabba-Okene Expressway in Kabba.
“Authorities are seeking any credible information that may aid their safe rescue.
“I urge everyone to pray for their immediate and safe release, asking for divine intervention and protection during this critical time.”
