Gunmen abduct train passengers, FG react
The kidnapping of train passengers at the Tom Ikimi Train Station in Igueben, Edo, was branded as vile and completely savage by the Federal Government of Nigeria on Sunday.
This was said in a statement made in Abuja by Mr. Henshaw Ogubike, the Director of Press and Public Relations for the Ministry of Transportation.
The statement read in part, “The Public is hereby reassured that the security agencies are making efforts to rescue the kidnapped train passengers.
"The Nigeria Police is on the trail of the criminals and have mobilised with a view to protecting the lives and property of the remaining passengers.
“Further details will be communicated later.â€
Recall that on January 7, some alleged herdsmen attacked the train station in Igueben and abducted some passengers who were waiting to board the train to Warri. They were allegedly armed with AK-47 rifles.
