Gunmen attack Benue community, kill 5 people
On Wednesday, gunmen in Ayilamo, a hamlet in Benue's Logo Local Government, killed five people.
The incident took place on Tuesday night, according to Mr. Sewuese Anene, spokesman for the police command in the north-central state.
“A few others sustained injuries,†Anene added.
She mentioned that there had been another attack in the Gwer-West Local Government's Mbachohon neighbourhood, but she added that there was no information at this time.
Unverified reports stated that the Mbachohon incident claimed the lives of six persons.
“The attacks are unfortunate; more security men are being deployed to the areas to restore peace,†Anene told the News Agency of Nigeria.
