Gunmen attack Enugu community, kill policemen, FRSC officials

On Saturday, there was mayhem in Orba and Eha-Alumona in the Udenu and Nsukka Local Government Areas of Enugu State. Two members of the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigeria Police Force were ambushed by gunmen.

The attack occurred just twenty-four hours after some gunmen ambushed and killed two police officers conducting a stop-and-search in the state capital on Friday, less than a kilometre from the Government House.

According to trustworthy information obtained by our journalist, the most recent attack began at the Premier Junction at Eha-Alumona in Nsukka LG and moved at 4 pm to the Army checkpoint at Orba in Udenu LG.

Four employees perished in the assault, while others managed to flee with varying degrees of injuries.

Additionally, Patrick Eze, also known as Igwe Waziri, the traditional ruler of Egali Amalla Community in Udenu LG, was attacked and his Hilux van set on fire by the thugs.

Reportedly trapped in the attack's web, the king amazingly managed to escape unharmed. During the violence, an FRSC van was set on fire by the attackers.

When the state Commissioner of Police Kanayo Uzuegbu was contacted for his reaction to the incident, he said, “I am not aware of the incident. Please contact the Police Public Relations Officer on that.”

Nevertheless, as of the time this story was filed, calls and texts to Daniel Ndukwe, the command's spokesperson, were not answered, thus attempts to reach him were fruitless.

Enugu State's governor, Peter Mbah, has promised to use all of the state government's resources to capture the attackers who killed two police officers on Friday.
