In separate attacks on the settlements of Kawel and Kopkon in the Mushere area, Bokkos LGA of Plateau state, at least eighteen people were killed by gunmen. 

At around 1:20 a.m. on June 20, Sector 5 forces under Operation Enduring Peace replied to the coordinated attacks, security sources told Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency journal. 

According to the sources, the attackers broke into the villages of Kawel and Kopkon, firing intermittently before escaping before security personnel entered. When the military arrived, they found six bodies in Kopkon village and twelve bodies in Kawel village. 

According to the reports, military quickly began an operation in the surrounding area in an effort to locate and capture the fugitive suspects.

Following repeated attacks in certain rural villages, Operation Enduring Peace has increased security deployments and patrols in various areas of Plateau State.
