Gunmen kidnap cleric in Ondo
Anthony Ebele, a cleric with a well-known church in Ondo state, has reportedly been kidnapped by gunmen on his property.
According to sources, the prominent Pentecostal church's pastor was kidnapped on Saturday night at his Ogbese Farm in the state's Akure North Council region. Vanguard discovered that the kidnappers have established contact with the victim's family.
As of last night's publication time, little information was available about the specifics of their negotiations. According to a relative who spoke in confidence with Vanguard, the kidnappers have gotten in touch with them but haven't yet made a ransom demand.
He claims that they have verified Pastor Ebele's presence with them. "They pledged to respond to us as soon as possible.
We are eagerly awaiting their arrival. When contacted, Funmi Odunlami, the state police command's spokesperson, verified the cleric's kidnapping.
Odunlami said that “on the 29th of June around 10pm, one Mr Ogunjobi Adeyemi reported at the station that his brother who went to farm was yet to return home.
” The complainant was expected to meet with the police to trace the victim to the farm but did not show up.
