Gunmen kill Katsina lecturer, abduct his children
A lecturer at Katsina State's Federal University Dutsinma, or FUDMA, was slain by bandits. Early this morning, a new bandit onslaught claimed Dr. Tiri David's life.
The speaker held the position of Head of the university's Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development.
According to an eyewitness, the event happened at the lecturer's house in the Yarima Quarters, Low-Cost Estate, Dutsinma Local Government Area, Katsina State, at around 1:30 in the morning.
He continued by saying that the bandits used highly developed weaponry to storm the neighbourhood, firing intermittently to frighten the locals. Additionally, two of the lecturer's children were kidnapped by the thugs, he claimed.
Abubakar Sadiq, a spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, confirmed the occurrence but stated that a thorough statement will be issued shortly.
Despite efforts by the state administration and security services to restore peace in the state, Dutsinma is one of the ten security frontline local government districts that suffers from regular bandit attacks virtually every day.
