Wendy Achumba, a female student at the College of Nursing Umulogho in Obowo LGA, Imo state, was killed by suspected assassins.

According to reports, the student, who was reportedly finished with her midwifery but still doing post-basic training, was murdered on Thursday at her apartment.

The dead was from Isiala-Ngwa in the state of Abia, but as of the time this report was filed, the circumstances surrounding her death were still unclear.

The Imo state police command confirmed the development by announcing the start of a manhunt for the murderers.

“The Command is aware of the tragic incident involving the death of a female student of the College of Nursing, Umulogho, whose body was discovered in her private off-campus apartment,” Henry Okoye, spokesperson for the command, said in a statement on Friday.

According to Okoye, the body was discovered and placed in the morgue after the DPO and operatives quickly arrived to the area for an on-the-spot examination in response to the report.

According to Okoye, an inquiry has started to determine the incident's circumstances and apprehend the perpetrators.

He mentioned that one suspect has been detained by the command and is presently being questioned in a preliminary manner.
