Gunmen kill police escort, kidnap Taraba State LG chairman
After shooting his police orderly near Kofan Amadu on the Takum-Wukari road, gunmen kidnapped Mr. Boyi Manja, Chairman of Takum Local Government Area in Taraba State.
According to a source who wished to remain anonymous, the incident took place on Sunday at 3 p.m. while the chairman was travelling in his official vehicle, according to Daily Trust.
It was discovered that the location of the chairman's abduction is a troubled area where several travellers had been killed and several more had been kidnapped in previous years before a joint patrol team was sent out to protect travellers.
However, it was discovered that attacks on travellers and farmers have returned in recent weeks.
SP Usman Abdullahi, the Taraba State Police Command's spokesperson, acknowledged the most recent occurrence in the meantime.
