Gunmen kill two APC members in Ebonyi
Two members of the All Progressives Congress were slain by gunmen in Ebonyi State on Friday night.
According to reports, the APC members were murdered in the state's Mkpuma Akpatakpa hamlet under the Izzi Local Government Area.
On Friday night in the neighborhood, they reportedly attended an APC meeting when the shooters attacked the location and started shooting at everyone inside.
Their assailants, who were apparently two in number, used a motorcycle, according to reports.
They were alleged to have completed their nefarious task and then immediately zoomed off.
The two people have been officially pronounced dead, while two more injured people are being treated in the state capital of Abakaliki's Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital.
Charles Nwankwo, the Commander of Ebubeagu at Ogboji Ward in the state's Ezza North Local Government Area, was shot and killed in the meantime by gunmen.
A local source claims that the gunmen stormed the Ebubeagu Commander's home at around one in the morning on Saturday and killed him.
According to the source, the shooters carried away his motorcycle and rifle.
The source said, “Charles Nwankwo is Ebubeagu Commander in Ogboji Ward, Ezza North LGA. Gunmen visited him at his home town in Ogboji community and shot him dead, collected his motorcycle and gun and ran away.â€
The killings were verified by Friday Ujor, the Ebonyi State Commander of Ebubeagu.
But he said that he hadn't yet received all the information about the two instances.
The incidents had not yet been confirmed by the Ebonyi State Police Command as of Saturday when this article was filed.
On Saturday, SP Chris Anyanwu, who serves as the Command's spokesperson, did not return calls or text messages.
