Gunmen kill two policemen, civilian in Imo.

On Monday, at the Ahiara Junction in the Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, two police officers and a civilian were shot and killed.

The attack occurred while Danjuma Aboki, the state's newly appointed commissioner of police, was visiting his officers in the Mbaise nation to boost morale.

Our correspondent learned that the assailants started shooting at the uniformed police officers as soon as they arrived.

A bystander was killed by a stray bullet, and they instantly killed two police officers.

 The source said, “Two policemen have been killed now at Ahiara junction. On arrival, the gunmen opened fire at the direction of the policemen and killed two on the spot. A stray bullet also hit a young man and he died on the spot. The video clips of the lifeless bodies of the victims are circulating online. This is very unfortunate.”

Henry Okoye, the state police spokesperson, informed us that the command had launched a manhunt for the evading suspects.

He said, “The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, Commander 34 Artillery Brigade and Joint Task Force operatives combing the scene of crime for evidence that will possibly lead to the arrest of the hoodlums responsible for the attack and killing of two policemen at the Ahiara Junction, in Ahaizu Mbaise LGA of Imo State.”

Our correspondent saw footage showing the police officer's and the civilian's lifeless bodies.

According to our correspondent, Eze Joe Ochulor, the traditional leader of Otulu Autonomous Community in the nearby Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, was discovered dead on Saturday night in the neighbouring Aboh Mbaise LGA.

After the monarch was abducted from his palace on Saturday morning, the body was discovered by the side of the road on Saturday evening.

Additionally, a few days prior, Chiedoziem Anyanwu, the ward chairman of the People Democratic Party in the Ife/Akpodim/Chokoneze ward in the state's Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area, was assassinated in front of his spouse.

His assassins demanded to see him when they arrived. They shot at him several times and made sure he was dead before they left the scene, confirming right away that he was the person they were looking for.
