Hajj: NAHCONS airlift 95,000 Nigerians to Mecca
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NACHON), a collection of Muslim men engaged in diverse endeavours, has received praise from The Companion for successfully airlifting all pilgrims registered with the commission to do the hajj in 1444 A.H. (2023) before Saudi Arabia's airspace was shut down.
The group praised NAHCON Zikrullah Hassan and his colleagues for a job well done in a statement released Sunday night and signed by its national amir, Kamil Olalekan, and the public affairs secretary, Muideen Adeleke.
Despite difficulties faced during the activities, it praised NAHCON's airlift of 95,000 potential Nigerian pilgrims as exceptional.
The Muslim organization praised the NAHCON director for his foresight and dedication in meeting the Sunday deadline to finish the airlift of departing pilgrims before the shutdown of the Saudi Arabian air space.
It stated that Mr. Hassan has improved the hajj administration in Nigeria, emphasizing that this was because of thorough planning and sacrifice from the commission's top down to the board, the staff, and other stakeholders.
The association further stated that it was proud of the NAHCON chairman, a distinguished group member because the changes he made to the hajj management were paying off and had helped Nigeria become a leader in the sector.
“As members of the Companion, we are proud of the feat recorded by one of our exemplary members with the successful completion of outbound flights despite the seemingly insurmountable challenges that threatened the exercise along the line,†stated the Companion.
The group advised Nigerian pilgrims to move with their international counterparts to Mina, a suburb of Makkah, for the main hajj rites, and to be excellent ambassadors throughout their time in the holy place. They were also exhorted to increase their prayers for the commission and the nation.
