'I want to be transferred to Kuje,' Nnamdi Kanu tells court

Nnamdi Kanu, the arrested leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, has begged to be moved to Kuje prison after the Federal High Court in Abuja rejected his request for release on Tuesday.

Kanu indicated that his extremely bad medical condition could not be managed in his current prison facility. He is presently under the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

He claimed that the DSS did not have the medical facilities necessary to treat him.

He explained to the court that his condition was heart-related and that it had begun to show in his physical attributes, particularly his feet.

In addition, he complained that the security service was still preventing his guests from seeing him.

Speaking from the dock, Kanu said there was a plot to let him perish in the hands of the secret police, immediately after trial judge Binta Nyako rejected his bail request.

“My foot is swollen. I asked them to conduct surgery, and they said they couldn’t.

“There is a conspiracy for me to die in detention. I want to be transferred to Kuje,” he told the court.
