Ijebu Ode-Benin expressway accident leaves two dead, 13 injured
The collision happened on Saturday at 1:21 pm near Ajede, after J3 Junction along the Ijebu-Ode-Ore-Benin motorway. Two persons killed and thirteen others were injured.
The deadly collision was reportedly caused by an Iyare Motors Toyota Hiace bus with the licence plate GUE59ZY colliding with a stalled truck registered under the BGT94LG licence plate.
This was disclosed in a statement provided to journalists on Saturday by Florence Okpe, the spokeswoman for the Federal Road Safety Corps' Ogun State Sector Command.
The bus driver's excessive speed was thought to be the cause of the accident, as it caused him to lose control and collide with a truck parked next to the road.
The dead were reportedly deposited in the mortuary of General Hospital, Ijebu Ode, while the injured were reportedly transported to Hope Hospital in J4.
