51 illegal immigrants have been detained by the Nigeria Immigration Service in New Nyanya, Karu Local Government, Nasarawa State.  

Following reliable intelligence, the unlawful migrants—all mallians between the ages of 17 and 25—were apprehended at their hiding places.  

Eleven (11) of them are female, while forty (40) are male, according to ACI A.S. Akinlabi, the Public Relations Officer for the Nigeria Immigration Service.  

He noted that none of the migrants produced a legitimate travel passport or residency permit when they were being questioned, and that the service's first assessment suggests that the migrants may have been victims of both trafficking in persons (TIP) and smuggling of migrants (SOM).

According to Akinlabi, they have been placed under the service's custody and are currently being profiled and investigated further.
