Immigration officer, two others arraigned for drug trafficking
Sanni Razak Adeola, an immigration officer, and two other individuals were yesterday charged by agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) with conspiracy, illegal possession, and export of 1.0 kilogrammes of methamphetamine, a narcotic substance.
Adeola, who works at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, was charged in court alongside Hein Narcisse (also known as Ugwuoke Peter Oluchukwu) and Eyah Nnamdi Celestine (also known as Murphy).
The two defendants, Eyah and Hien, were charged with conspiring to export 1 kilogramme of cocaine illegally, while Sanni was charged with one count of assisting and abetting.
He was charged with helping Hein and Eyah export the prohibited substance against the law.
Abu Ibrahim, the attorney for the prosecution, informed the court that the three individuals committed the crimes on June 8, 2023.
He testified before the court that Eyah and Hien, also known as Ugwuoke Peter Oluchukwu, planned to illegally export 1 kilogramme of methamphetamine from Avenue Garden in Lagos.
The prosecutor also disclosed to the court that the second defendant, Hien, was obtained by the first defendant, Eyah.
Both Eyah and Hien entered pleas of guilty once the charge was read to them, however, the immigration officer contested the accusation of aiding and abetting made against him and entered a plea of not guilty.
Following the admission of guilt by Eyah and Hien, the prosecutor went over the charge's specifics as well as any exhibits that had been offered and approved by the court.
After reviewing the evidence supporting the charge, the prosecution urged the court to find the accused guilty and sentence them in line with the NDLEA Act.
