Imo police arrest 125 drug suspects
In addition to recovering 500 kg of cannabis, weapons, and ammunition, the Imo State Police Command has detained over 125 individuals, including a couple involved in the sale of hard drugs.
On Wednesday, July 3, the command's Anti-Narcotics Squad searched a suspected criminal hideout in Ofuzor Afor Egbu, Owerri North LGA, according to Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma. Stanley Joseph Onyebuchi, 45, and Ngozi Joseph, 35, were taken into custody for dealing in hard narcotics.
Nine suitcases containing more than 500 kg of cannabis, crystal meth, and a Toyota Sienna were found inside of them. Guns, ammo, and stolen cars were recovered along with other suspects such as suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, and child traffickers.
The suspects have admitted to the crimes, he said. The command is committed to rid Imo State of criminal elements, he cautioned. The residents are advised to assist the police in reporting criminal activity.
“We will not condone any criminal elements distorting the existing peace and stability in the state. We need your partnership to apprehend criminal elements and ensure our roads are safe.”
