India police nab three Nigerian drug traffickers
In India, the Chandigarh Police Crime Branch declared that it had broken up a global drug trafficking organisation, detained three foreign people, and found 204.8 grammes of crystal methamphetamine, also referred to as "ice."
The suspects Frank Nwokeji, Loua, and Jack David llobi Tochukwu are Nigerians who live in New Delhi, according to the Times of India on Tuesday.
Before being arrested for drug-related offences, Loua was previously detained in 2019 under the NDPS Act when it was discovered that he was in possession of 207 grammes of heroin. He is currently free on bail. In a similar vein, David has previously encountered legal issues and been taken into custody by the Delhi Police.
The police claim that on March 30, a team of detectives under the command of Inspector Ashok Kumar obtained information about three Africans who had previously supplied drugs in Chandigarh and were planning to arrive with a substantial amount of cocaine.
According to information obtained, the suspects arrived in India on temporary medical and business visas, but once their visas expired, they were involved in illegal drug trafficking and overstayed.
The police also claimed that the investigation showed the suspects purchased the illegal goods from their home country at a reduced cost, which they later sold in Tricity clubs, pubs, and discos for a higher price.
The police stated that the matter was still being investigated and that they hoped to take further action against other drug gang members.
