Jigawa receives 6m doses of yellow fever vaccine
The Jigawa State administration has received six million doses of the yellow fever vaccine from the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHDA) to immunise roughly 7.5 million residents of the state.
The state immunisation officer, Alhaji Hassan Shuaibu Kwalam, said during the inspection of the vaccines delivered to the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency that preparations for the state's participation in the 2023 yellow fever preventive mass vaccination campaign (PMVC) have advanced significantly.
Kwalam stated that the PMVC exercise, which will be carried out by the NPHDA in coordination with the Jigawa State administration, has a target population of 7,472,505.
According to him, the exercise, which would be conducted in 27 local government areas of the state, will primarily target residents between the ages of nine months and 44.
The vaccination officer noted that the last dose of the vaccine would be administered before the exercise, which was supposed to start before the end of July.
