June 12: Nigerians protest economic hardship

Some irate Nigerians staged protests against the current situation of the nation on Wednesday as the country observed June 12th as Democracy Day. Nigerians, who were furious, protested in the streets against poverty and hunger.

Some demonstrators from Lagos State congregated in Ikeja and declared that President Bola Tinubu's administration ought to be overthrown.

They emphasised that "Nigerians can't feed their families comfortably under Tinubu" and based their demands on the country's economic suffering.

The protesters displayed placards bearing messages such as, ‘President Tinubu, let the poor breath’, and ‘Reverse all anti-people, Neoliberal policies of privatisation’.

In a post on X, one of the protesters said, “We called for it and we are on the street in Ikeja Under Bridge. The tyrannical and oppressive government of @officialABAT must be shown the way out. We are hungry and angry. WeAreHungryProtest. June12Protest.”

Similarly, angry Nigerians staged a demonstration against the Tinubu government in Abuja under the Berger Bridge.
