Kano Emir stops church activities in residential buildings
According to reports, Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umaru, the Emir of Rano, has strictly prohibited religious activities inside Emirate residential buildings.
According to PM News, the Emir established a special inquiry committee in response to appeals from worried citizens.
The committee's findings, according to the report, verified that a church in Rano town's Yadi Quarters was holding services in a residential home without following the correct legal protocols.
There are reportedly 27 accredited churches in the Rano Emirate, where Christians can worship openly and unhindered.
However, residents' dissatisfaction with unpermitted worship in residential buildings had resulted in formal complaints. In order to avoid any possible disturbance of the peace, the Emir promptly put an immediate end to all church activities in residential structures in response to the committee's recommendation.
The Committee Secretary, Alhaji Umar Isa Sarki, revealed that some petitions questioned whether the services held in private residences were lawful.
The Christian Association of Nigeria, or CAN, head of the Kano branch has not acknowledged or refuted the development.
