Kano Government orders demolition of Sheik's house
At the well-known Sheikh Nasiru Kabara House, the Kano State Government has commanded the immediate removal of an unauthorized structure.
After learning that the building on the Kano State Emirate Council's property had not received official sanction, state governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje issued the order.
Contrary to earlier rumors, neither the state government nor the Emirate Council issued the permit, according to Hon. Baffa Babba An'agundi, Managing Director of the Kano Road and Traffic Agency and Chairman of the Committee on Removal of Illegal Structures.
"It is important for the public to know that the illegal building had led to suspicion between the state government and the Emirate which although the other party was behind it, it was discovered that some greedy and self-centered individuals who only care about their interest were behind it," he said.
Governor Ganduje has ordered complete demolition, fencing, and the installation of play areas for kids while additional investigations are ongoing. The remaining area used for zikir by the Kadariyya sect will also be securely fenced.
The governor has also ordered a constant security presence in the area to safeguard parents, guardians, and children in the playground from all types of criminal activity.
The committee also issued a warning, stating that anyone found breaking state regulations governing the purchase of land and construction must stop doing so going forward because the government has vowed to bring legal action against those responsible.
