Kano government to spend N2.5 billion on mass wedding
In 2025, the Kano State Government has set aside N2.5 billion for the quarterly mass weddings that will take place throughout the state's 44 local government districts.
This was revealed by Musa Shanono, the State Commissioner for Planning and Budget, during his presentation of the State's 2025 budget, which was approved by the State House of Assembly on Friday.
According to Shanono, the mass wedding initiative is part of the government’s broader plan to spend N91.32bn in the governance and service delivery sector for various programmes and services toward fostering social welfare and development.
He clarified that the goal of mass weddings was to uphold human rights, accountability, and transparency while guaranteeing an equitable society that fosters sustainable development and raises the standard of life for all.
Shanono emphasised other budgetary allotments, such as N955,000,000 for a study on manpower statistics, a general household survey, statistics on out-of-school children, and N1,000,000,000 for Ramadan food.
