Kano governor announces N71,000 minimum wage for workers
A new minimum pay of N71,000 for civil personnel has been approved by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf and will go into effect in November.
Governor Yusuf made the announcement on Tuesday on his verified Facebook page, stressing his administration's dedication to raising living standards and enhancing worker welfare.
The governor stated, “In line with our commitment to social justice and enhancing the standard of living for our workers, we have approved 71,000 naira as the new minimum wage in Kano State.” He added that implementing this new wage structure will increase monthly salary expenditures to N6 billion for the state and N7 billion for local government councils.
Following the recent promotion of 20,737 teachers, Governor Yusuf also announced changes to their salaries, increasing their monthly income by N340 million. He praised the state's minimum wage implementation committee for its hard work in bringing this proposal to fruition, which should benefit the state's government servants as well as the economy as a whole.
