Kanye West restricted on Instagram, Twitter
After the American rapper uploaded posts that targeted the Jewish community, social media sites Instagram and Twitter imposed limitations on his accounts.
The first company to take action against West on Friday was Instagram.
Following his contentious appearance at the Yeezy fashion show in Paris with well-known conservative media figure Candace Owens, West had earned the wrath of many.
The pair wore a blouse with the phrase "WHITE LIVES MATTER" written on it as they walked down the runway.
Many people, notably hip-hop singer Sean Combs, often known as Puff Daddy, criticised this.
In a chat that West posted on his Instagram page on Friday, Puff counselled the rapper against making negative remarks about the Black community in the media.
In response, West said that he would use Combs as “an example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me. I told you this is war. Now gone get you some business.â€
A representative for Meta claims that Instagram restricted the rapper's account and removed information from his Instagram profile for breaking its policies.
The musician, who is now known legally as Ye, then logged onto his Twitter account and attacked Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Instagram's parent firm Meta, for removing him from the app.
Ye backed up his assertions by asserting that he was unable to be anti-semitic since "black people are actually Jews as well."
“The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also. You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda,†the rapper wrote.
Since then, the post has been removed for breaking Twitter's rules.
On Sunday, a Twitter representative told ABC News that Ye's account had also been locked as a result of the alleged infringement.
