Kebbi govt to sponsor mass wedding for 300 couples
The 600-person mass wedding, which will include 300 brides and 300 grooms, will be sponsored by the Kebbi State Government, which will also give a dowry of ?180,000 per couple.
Suleman Argungu, the chairman of the Mass Wedding Committee, told reporters in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday that screening committees have been established to make sure all chosen couples fulfil the necessary requirements.
Pre-marital health examinations and an evaluation of the groom's work or trade status will be part of the screening procedure, according to Argungu, to make sure he can support his bride.
He added that the program aims to help orphans, widows, and individuals with special needs, regardless of their religious or tribal affiliation.
