Alhaji Usman Ododo, the governor of Kogi State, has given 1,490 National Youth Service Corps personnel stationed in the state ?20,000 each, totalling ?29.8 million.

As the corps members begin their primary assignments throughout the state, the donation is meant to help with transportation and other urgent needs.

James Sani, the information officer for the Kogi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, made this announcement on Wednesday.

At the conclusion of the 2026 Batch "B," Stream II NYSC Orientation Course, which took place at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Asaya, Kabba, Kogi State, Ododo made the donation.

The governor, represented at the event by Aridaojo Anyebe, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, reiterated his administration's dedication to fostering youth development and enabling youth to make significant contributions to the state's socioeconomic advancement.

Sani quoted the governor as saying, “This administration has unwavering confidence in the capacity of young people to excel and contribute positively to the implementation of youth-focused development programmes.”

Ododo advised the corps members to apply the information and abilities they learned during orientation to promote community development and to responsibly integrate into their host communities.
