Kogi University gets NUC approval to launch six new courses
The National Universities Commission has given Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara permission to launch six new programs. The following degrees have been approved: LL.B. Law; B. Agric. Agriculture; B. Eng. Agricultural Engineering; Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT); and B. Rad. Radiography.
This is a big step forward for CUSTCH because the permission allows the institution to start offering these degrees in the 2024–2025 academic year.
After a comprehensive resource verification visit by expert committees, which evaluated the university's material and human resource preparedness for the launch of the suggested academic programs, approval was given.
The commission's decision was communicated by Mr. Abubakar Girei, Acting Director of Academic Planning for NUC, in a letter to the CUSTECH administration on Friday. He stressed that the approval is limited to full-term programs.
“In order to offer part-time courses, CUSTECH must submit a separate request to the commission for further processing”. He noted.
Governor Usman Ododo, according to him, has been instrumental in developing the region's educational system.
“Under his leadership, CUSTECH has seen tremendous growth and expansion, becoming a leading institution in science and technology education.
The approval of these new courses demonstrates the commitment of Governor Ododo and the university management to provide students with a diverse and high-quality education that meets the needs of the modern world”. He said
According to him, “The introduction of programs such as MBBS, DPT, B.Rad. Radiography, B.Agric. Agriculture, B. Eng. Agricultural Engineering, and LL.B. Law will not only attract more students to CUSTECH but also contribute to the development of the medical and agricultural sectors in the country.
