Kwankwaso meets Peter Obi to hold talks on forming a coalition
Former Kano state governor and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso confirmed on Saturday that his party is holding talks with the Labour Party and its presidential candidate Peter Obi on the possibility of forming a coalition. Kwankwaso announced in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service on Saturday. He said: "We are indeed speaking to Peter Obi, or at least saying the committee is working to investigate the matter (and working with him) and friends and family are coming to speak to us about it." Since both Obi and Kwankwaso declared their political interests, they have both had large followings in most parts of the country.
Mr Obi had recently left the PDP and joined the Labor Party and has endeared himself to a large youth in the southern part of the country. Vanguard reports that Obi on Friday named former presidential spokesman Doyin Okupe as his running mate in a holding capacity.
