Lady remanded in Kirikiri for assaulting police officer
Ms. Olufunmilayo Brioluwa, a resident of Lagos, has been charged with assaulting a police officer.
This was disclosed on Tuesday by Benjamin Hundeyin, Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police.
Hundeyin said Brioluwa assaulted the policeman in the Oyingbo area of Lagos State during a “stop and search†operation.
She was said to have squeezed the uniform of the officer, “shoving him with all sense of impunityâ€.
She was charged before an Eti-Osa Local Government Area magistrate court.
Brioluwa, who was charged after being arraigned before Magistrate Alao M.O., entered a not-guilty plea.
The magistrate accepted the police prosecutor's request to hold the defendant in custody for 21 days while an investigation is ongoing.
She was detained at Kikiri Prison until the case's trial on June 6, 2023.
The news came just after Seun Kuti, an Afrobeat singer, was charged with assaulting a police officer while wearing a uniform.
