Lagos auto crash leaves three dead
In a traffic accident that happened on Sunday at the Mandilas Bus Stop in Iyana Isolo, Lagos, three people were burnt to death.
An update on the event was given by the Lagos State Emergency Agency's Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.
He said: ” Upon arrival at the scene at 11:38 pm, an accident involving a Mercury Benz SUV with an unknown registration number and a truck conveying a 40-foot container was encountered.
Upon arrival at the site, a preliminary examination showed that the SUV's excessive speeding was the reason it crashed with the truck. The car's engine caught fire as a result of the impact of this incident.
“Unfortunately three adult male inside the car were all severely burnt and died due to the impact of the collision.
“Responders at the scene of the incident include the Agency’s response team, LRU Fire unit, Lagos State Fire Service, SEHMU LASTMA, Nigeria Police and LASAMBUS.“Recovery of the accident containerized truck and car with the aid of the Agency’s heavy-duty equipment Crane, Lowbed and Super Metro while the Flatbody and the carcass of the burnt car were towed to the Lastma yard.
“Extrication of the three burn victims trapped inside the car with the aid of the light rescue equipment was carried out and the remains were subsequently bagged and handed over to SEHMU for onward transfer to the morgue”.
