Lagos-Badagry road crash leaves 20 dead
In a car accident in the Badagry district of the state, at least 20 people who had reportedly hired an 18-seater bus from the Yaba neighbourhood of Lagos to travel to a group party in the Republic of Benin were killed.
According to reports, the 18-seat commercial bus was completely packed with passengers when the sad accident occurred, and both the driver and his motor boy perished as well.
The terrible occurrence was confirmed by Mr Taofiq Adebayo, spokesman for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), who also said the accident occurred at around 9 am at Age-Mowo near Mowo along the Lagos-Badagry Motorway.
He said, “It involved a Mazda commercial bus with passengers and a truck loaded with sand.
“The driver of the commercial bus lost control when he saw a truck ahead of him while trying to overtake the tipper truck loaded with sand.
“Immediately, 20 people died including the 18 passengers alongside the commercial bus driver and his motor boy.
The victims' remains, according to Adebayo, have been sent to the mortuary at the Badagry General Hospital.
