Lagos driver collapses as truck falls on car
An unknown truck driver was found unconscious after his vehicle collided with a Toyota Camry near the Cele-Egbe Bridge in Ikotun, Lagos State.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority's Taofiq Adebayo, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday. He said agency officials rescued the driver on top of the bridge and gave him to officers from the Ejigbo Police Station.
He clarified that the Sunday tragedy involved a motorist who was transporting biscuits to a location in the state.
Adebayo said, “Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority today (Sunday) rescued an unconscious accident victim on top of the Cele-Egbe Bridge, inward Ikotun, Lagos State.
“LASTMA Anjorin Adeola, Zebra 7 Ejigbo, who led the rescue team, confirmed that the rescued unconscious accident victim was the truck driver involved in an accident where a white six-tyre truck with number plate FFF 996 XB, loaded with biscuits fell on an unregistered blue Toyota Camry car inward Ikotun, Lagos.
“LASTMA Anjorin stated that the LASTMA officials handed over the rescued unconscious driver to policemen from the Ejigbo Divisional Police Headquarters.â€
Adebayo claimed that Bolaji Oreagba, the general manager of LASTMA, had stated that the organization had been educating the public about speed limits in vehicle parks, particularly truck/trailer garages, throughout the state.
While urging drivers to exhibit the appropriate caution when passing large buses and trucks on the highway, Adebayo said Oreagba insisted that all drivers must absolutely abide by the speed limits posted by the government.
