Lagos govt closes Alaba International Market

Due to improper garbage disposal practices, among other things, the Lagos State Government has closed the Alaba International Market.

Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, tweeted this early on Monday.

“Alaba International Market, Ojo has been sealed up for poor waste disposal practices, failure to pay their waste bills, and gross environmental sanitation offences,” he wrote on X.

The Lagos State Government has recently begun closing markets and demolishing unauthorized constructions.

It recently closed the Mile 12 International Market and then reopened it. Due to careless rubbish disposal, the Owode Onirin Market on Ikorodu Road likewise met a similar end.

The Ladipo Auto Parts Market and other marketplaces had also been closed by the Lagos State Government due to environmental violations.
