Lagos govt closes Iddo bridge for five days
In order to allow the Federal Ministry of Works to start installing massive steel bridge beams as part of the ongoing bridge restoration and renovation, the Lagos State government yesterday announced plans to close the Iddo Bridge in Ijora, Apapa Local Government Area, for five days.
Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Commissioner for Transportation, made this announcement and asked drivers to cooperate with traffic control officials and exercise patience during the temporary shutdown.
Osiyemi said: “The operation is scheduled to take place on June 17, 2026, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m and on June 21, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
“Consequently, the entire section of Iddo Bridge will be temporarily closed to vehicular movement during the periods stated above to ensure the safe installation of the steel beams on the bridge.
“The closure is part of the traffic management plans put in place to facilitate the launching of steel beams for the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction of Iddo Bridge by the Federal Ministry of Works (Office of the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos).”
