Lagos govt distributes 2000 food packs to indigent residents

In order to lessen the impact of the loss of gasoline subsidies, the Lagos State Government gave 2,000 food packets on Tuesday to the State's poorest inhabitants.

The Lagos State Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement gave the food packets to the recipients.

Each pack includes a bag of 10 kg rice, a bag of 5 kilogramme beans, and a bag of 5 kg garri.

The event's goal, according to Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, Special Adviser for Political, Legislative, and Civic Engagement, was to provide food packages to hungry Lagos residents as a consolation.

He said that the distribution of the palliatives was guided by the governor's awareness of the people's misery brought on by the elimination of the fuel subsidy.

Tajudeen revealed that the state's people will receive roughly 2,000 food packs from the government.

He emphasised that one food pack box is for an impoverished household and said that after registration and presentation of a LASRRA identity card, such a person will receive one.

In his words: “The purpose why people are here today is for the distribution of palliatives, to indigent Lagosians, those that are vulnerable, the old women and men, and those that need government’s support.

“We have organised to distribute about 2,000 palliative food packs from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, he is so passionate about the plight of the people of  Lagos State, hence the need to give them these palliatives as succour to the needs of households.

“This is meant for a household and once you are given, you cannot come back again to collect another one. Before you are given you will be given a form to write your name, your address, local government, LASRRA number and your signature.”
