Lagos govt trains at least 60 engineers on bridge construction
At least sixty engineers were trained in bridge construction by the Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure on Thursday.
The Ministry's Office of Infrastructure is hosting a three-day training session at the Public Service Staff Development Centre in Magodo, Lagos State. The course will emphasise applying knowledge practically with the theme "Bridge Building: From Theory to Practice."
Its goal is to improve engineers' abilities and knowledge in building bridges and roads. Aspects of bridge building, including design, construction, and maintenance, are covered in the programme.
The resource people for the training are specialists in construction engineering.
The attendees were recruited from the Lagos State Ministry of Works, the Office of Infrastructure, and Public Works Corporation, according to Mr. Olufemi Daramola, Special Adviser on Infrastructure to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“The training is not just an event but a cornerstone in the state’s ongoing commitment towards enhancing infrastructure development.
“We have gathered experts and thought leaders in the field who will share their insights, experiences and cutting-edge techniques to enhance our technical skills and also empower us to implement these designs effectively in our day-to-day activities.
” I would like to acknowledge the contribution of my predecessor, Engr Aramide Adeyoye, under whose leadership a solid foundation was laid for development in the state Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.
“Her unwavering dedication and strategic initiatives have been instrumental,” Daramola said.
He exhorted the attendees to pay close attention, ask questions, exchange viewpoints, and benefit from the resource persons' extensive experience.
