Lagos-Ibadan Expressway accident leaves four dead, 11 injured

A Foton bus was involved in a single collision involving four fatalities and 11 injuries of varied severity in the Aiyetoro axis of the Lagos–Ibadan motorway.

The event was reported to television crews on Sunday in Abeokuta by Babatunde Akinbiyi, the public relations officer for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps.

Akinbiyi claimed that 15 people—three males and 12 women—were engaged in the collision, which happened at 9:59 am on Sunday.

According to Akinbiyi, the tragedy left three males and one woman dead while injuring 11 women.

According to Akinbiyi, the tragic commercial bus's tyre exploded as it was moving, causing it to flip into a ditch.

He said, “According to an eyewitness account, the bus marked AGL 989 YA was coming from Ibadan  inbound Lagos when it had a tyre burst on the driver’s side at Ayetoro axis on the expressway which led the bus to somersault into a ditch.”

According to Akinbiyi, the injured victims were transported to Famobis Hospital in Mowe while the deceased were laid to rest at the Idera mortuary in Sagamu.

However, he urged motorists to observe basic traffic laws and regulations, refrain from driving too fast, and use tokunbo tyres.
