Lagos man arraigned for impersonating military officer
Samuel Adeleke, 27, was charged with impersonating a military commander on Friday in Ojo Magistrates' Court in Lagos after being detained while wearing military attire.
Adeleke, whose address was omitted, entered a not-guilty plea to both counts of impersonation brought against him.
The defendant committed the offences on June 22 in the Illogbo neighbourhood of Ojo, Lagos, according to the prosecutor, Insp. Esther Adesulu, who testified in court.
Adesulu claimed Adeleke exhibited himself as a military officer while donning a military camouflage, which he knew to be fraudulent.
She claimed that as a result, the defendant behaved in a way that might have disturbed the quiet of the community.
According to Adesulu, the offences were under Sections 77 and 168 of the Lagos State Criminal Law from 2015.
The defendant was granted bail in the amount of N100,000 with two sureties in the same amount by Magistrate Mrs. D S Odukoya.
Odukoya postponed the case's trial date until August 10.
