Lagos PDP chairman abducted
Philip Aivoji, the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) branch in Lagos State, has been abducted.
He was allegedly abducted on Thursday while travelling back from the party's Stakeholders' Zonal Caucus Meeting, which was held in Ibadan, the state capital of Oyo State, near the Ogere section of the Lagos-Ibadan motorway.
Hakeem Amode, the state publicity secretary for the party, did, however, confirm the kidnapping of Mr. Aivoji in a statement on Friday. He urged all levels of government authorities and security services to step in quickly to secure the release of the organization's chairman.
Mr. Amode said it was depressing that kidnapping had become commonplace in the nation. The government's incapacity to confront this threat, in his words, is "deeply concerning."
“The abduction of Aivoji underscores the pressing need for decisive actions from the government and stakeholders to eradicate this menace. Aivoji’s abduction was a violent incident, and his current whereabouts remain unknown.
“We implore the governments of Oyo, Ogun, and Lagos States, alongside security agencies, to expedite efforts and secure his safe return to his family and well-wishers,†the statement read.
