Lagos police arrest notorious fraudster
Two suspects who allegedly specialise in counterfeiting diplomas from several international universities and scamming unwary victims online have been taken into custody by police officers from Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos.
The suspects, Kelly Osas Endgieen, 24, and Elvis Osakpolo Edokpain, 23, were charged with accumulating fortune through deception and spending the money to construct homes and buy expensive cars all around the nation.
The suspects reportedly tried to avoid prosecution by offering detectives N66 million in bribes.
Following orders from Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police Adegoke Fayoade, the investigative team cooperated in order to obtain the bribe as proof.
Following a tip to the command's Anti-Corruption Unit that exposed a syndicate involved in the fabrication of foreign academic credentials, their arrest was started.
In order to determine the scope of the suspects' operations and identify additional possible collaborators, the police are still looking into their actions.
