Lagos police arrest three suspected 'one-chance' robbers
The arrest of three alleged members of a one-chance robbery gang operating along the Oshodi-Gbagada Expressway was reported by the Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday.
The suspects were detained by members of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), according to a statement from the Lagos State Police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.
“The suspects had abandoned their operational vehicle, a Suzuki mini bus popularly called ‘korope’ at the Gbagada area of Oshodi-Oke along Gbagada–Oshodi Expressway, on April 14, 2023, when RRS operatives accosted them while trying to drop off a victim,†Hundeyin stated.
According to the investigation, the suspects earlier held up the operating vehicle at gunpoint at the Ketu bus stop on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway in Ojo sometime in February. Ijanikin Police Divisional Headquarters was informed of the event.
The suspects' names were revealed by Hundeyin to be Wale Ajayi, a 24-year-old "m," Abideen Saka, a 26-year-old "m," and Oliseh Sunday, a 29-year-old "m."
He claimed that after weeks of thorough investigation, the three of them were eventually apprehended at their hiding place and have since been charged and imprisoned.
