Lagos seals church, other facilities over noise pollution
A branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and eight other institutions have been closed due to noise pollution, according to the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA).
Leading Nigerian Pentecostal organisation RCCG is often led by well-known cleric Pastor Enoch Adeboye. Daily Bakery, Gak Universal Allied Limited, Ideal Standard Franjane Royal Suites, Golden Haven Resort & Suites, Festival Hotel Conference Centre & SPA, FS Service Centre, and Moulin Rouge Ventures at Olivia Mall were among the other businesses that LASEPA sealed.
The facilities were closed as part of LASEPA's enforcement operation, which covered localities like Mushin, Amuwo Odofin, and Okota Isolo, according to a statement posted on its X handle.
It said, “In a decisive move to combat noise pollution and other environmental violations, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) sealed several establishments across the state. The enforcement operation, which covered areas such as Mushin, Amuwo Odofin, and Okota Isolo, underscores LASEPA’s commitment to fostering a healthier and more sustainable environment for all Lagosians.
It added that “these establishments were shut down for failing to comply with environmental standards, despite prior notices from the agency.”
