Lagos seals RCCG, six others over noise pollution

Due to noise pollution, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) closed six additional businesses and another branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

The following properties have also been sealed: Fortunes Shortlet Apartment, Acuma Event Centre, Farm City, Red Bar, Dominion City Church, and The Odyssey Apartments.

The New Covenant Assembly is closed by the RCCG.

The businesses are spread throughout Lekki Phase 1, Oniru, Lekki, and Ajah in the State's Lagos Island axis.

The shutdown of the RCCG and other organisations, according to LASEPA on its X account, was done in accordance with its responsibility to preserve the environment from noise pollution and other violations.

“We have sealed up several establishments including a lounge, bar, event centre, Churches and residential apartments for violating the State’s environmental regulations.

“The sealed establishments with a diverse range of locations are Red Bar, Farm City, The Odyssey Apartments, Acuma Event Centre, Dominion City Church, Redeemed Christian Church of God (The New Covenant Assembly), and Fortunes Shortlet Apartment.

“These establishments are situated in various parts of Lekki Phase 1, Oniru Lekki and Ajah in the Lagos Island axis of the State,” it said.

The government said the measure was taken to address identified instances of noise pollution and other environmental violations.

“LASEPA remains committed to ensuring a peaceful and sustainable environment that is safer, cleaner and environmentally friendly,” it stated.
