Lagos tricyclist commits suicide over Marwa seizure
An unidentified tricyclist committed suicide in the Ikorodu neighbourhood of Lagos State after allegedly failing to get his confiscated tricycle back from certain government authorities.
According to PUNCH Metro, the tricyclist was being stopped by the authorities for a violation when he was travelling to a location within the state.
After the interception, the tricycle was allegedly taken by the officers to their office near Jubilee Estate, which is near the Ikorodu-Sagamu Motorway. The tricycle operator was reported to have made fruitless attempts to get his trike back from the officials.
Our correspondent discovered that the tricyclist, bewildered by the situation, went to a tree in front of the compound's fence, near the Jubilee Estate, along the Ikorodu-Sagamu Motorway, where the offices of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, and Vehicle Inspection Officers are located, and hanged himself.
In a video that was uploaded to WhatsApp, an eyewitness named Prince Excel of Aiyekooto Reporters called the situation regrettable and mentioned that the man had committed himself early on Thursday.
