Late Ohinohi of Ebiraland to be buried today
The late Paramount ruler of Ebiraland, Ado Ibrahim, who passed away in the early hours of Sunday, will be buried at 2 pm in accordance with Islamic procedures, according to Yinusa Duke, the secretary of the Ebiraland traditional council.
Duke said to newsmen in Lokoja on Sunday that while travelling from Abuja to Okene, where he would be laid to rest, his bones were damp.
“The burial ceremony has been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. today, Sunday in Okene. We are waiting for the arrival of the corpse from Abuja, where he died, †the secretary said.
He added that following a protracted illness, the supreme monarch passed away on Sunday at around 2:00 a.m. in an unnamed Abuja hospital.
The scribe said his death was “very sad and a big blow†to Ebiraland.
“We lost our daddy and leader this early morning of Sunday in an Abuja Hospital where he had been treated for age-related ailment for three weeks now.
“We are in shock and pain over his death. He was indeed a good father and leader to not just Ebiraland but Kogi and Nigeria as a whole.
“His death has left a vacuum in the entire Ebiraland,†he said.
Sule stated that the traditional ruler's remains were anticipated in Okene for ultimate interment.
Born on February 7, 1929, Abdulrahman Ado-Ibrahim was the fourth traditional king and Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, with his capital located in Okene, Kogi State.
He was the son of Ibrahim Onoruoiza, the Omadivi Clan's second Attah (now "Ohinoyi") of Ebiraland, who ruled from 1917 until 1954.
After being crowned the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland in 1997, Ado-Ibrahim held the position until his death on Sunday, October 29, 2023.
Ado-Ibrahim was a prosperous businessman who spent the majority of his life in Lagos prior to taking the throne.
