LP's Alex Otti emerges Abia governor-elect
With the official announcement of the contentious Obingwa Local Government Area results on Wednesday, the Labour Party candidate, Alex Otti, has been named the winner of the Abia State governorship election.
The Peoples Democratic Party received 9,962 votes in the LGA when all of the election's outstanding results had been tallied, compared to 3,776 for the Labour Party.
As a result, the PDP won six LGAs, the Young Peoples Party one, and the LP won ten LGAs.
As a result, the 2023 governorship election in Abia State was declared won by Chief Alex Otti, a candidate for governor from the Labour Party.
Otti outperformed his nearest competitor, the PDP candidate, who received 88,526 votes, garnering a total of 175,466.
Following the completion of the results' suspended collation, the Returning Officer, Prof. Nnenna Oti, proclaimed the LP candidate the victor at the INEC's headquarters in Umuahia, the state capital, on Wednesday afternoon.
